Machias kicks off its 39th annual Blueberry Festival with several kid-friendly events this evening. First up is the Children’s Parade — join the fun and bring your kids, your friend’s kids or your grandchildren. Folks can start gathering at 5:45 at the Machias Valley Baptist Church just off of Court Street. The parade will begin at 6pm and march down Colonial Way, then onto Main Street, winding up at the Centre Street Church. Bright colors, costumes, clowns and lots of laughs will bring smiles to all the kids that join in on the parade tonight.
Just after the parade at 7pm, don’t miss the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers at UMM’s Performing Arts Center. This is a treat for the whole family you won’t want to miss.
And to top off the night’s events, make sure you catch the free showing of childhood classic “Charlotte’s Web”. The movie starts at 8:30 on the lawn at Station ’98. Bring a blanket or folding chairs for your comfort.
All of Friday’s kid friendly events are sponsored by the Washington County Children’s Program, call 255-3426 for more information.
